I am a photographer and author, passionate about history, old buildings, vintage objects, and travel. Quite by accident I stumbled into photography about 20 years ago. I became captivated after taking snaps of mates in band playing a gig. Afterwards enrolling in a photographic course and then joining a local photographic society, I went on to win awards up to the national level. I also exhibit in art shows, often being fortunate enough to win or place for an award.
My goal is to create beautiful, original, fine art photographs. While we see images on screens daily, nothing surpasses the feeling of a printed image on thick archival paper. I continually aspire to produce high-quality work that I would be proud to display on my walls and hope others feel the same way.
It can be surprising how much effort goes into photography. For example, with my Nostalgique series, I spent 2 years researching and photographing 50 oft-forgotten items to bring them back to life. A significant amount of time was spent planning the composition of each scene, carefully selecting the elements to include, and finally setting lighting to achieve the desired visual impact. Subsequently, each digital image was processed to enhance the colours, tones, contrast, etc. in line with my original vision. Printing the photographs is the final step. It is the moment when the images becomes tangible, and my favourite part of the process. Apart from my largest pieces, I print all my work. I use archival-quality inks and gallery level cotton rag paper, resulting in vibrant pieces that will last a lifetime.
I create photographs to express my passions and bring them to life in a meaningful way. It also allows me to share those passions with others. For where is the joy in life if we cannot share the things that interest us. I hope that I have created something that resonates with you.
