Magpie - Pievate Eye

Description : I invite you into my whimsical world where magpies moonlight as private eyes. Imagine if Phillip Marlowe swapped his trench coat for a trilby hat and sprouted feathers – that’s the quirky universe my paintbrush brings to life. My latest artwork features our avian detective, a magpie who believes he’s the noir hero of his own black-and-white mystery. Picture him against a playful pink background, a cigarillo perched at the edge of his beak, ready to crack the case with a sharp gaze and a witty retort. Each stroke of my brush aims to blend the charm of classic film noir with a dash of humor, creating a storybook scene that’s both nostalgic and delightfully unexpected. In my work, I strive to capture the essence of whimsy and the unexpected joys that come when you mix the ordinary with the extraordinary. I hope my paintings evoke a smile, a chuckle, and a sense of wonder, inviting viewers to step into a world where even the most common of birds can be the hero of an epic tale. So, welcome to my studio, where the air is thick with mystery and the spirit of adventure is only a canvas away. Let’s solve the case together, one brushstroke at a time.

I'm Julie, an artist living on the beautiful Gold Coast. My art journey is all about capturing the essence of everyday moments and the wonders of nature that surround us. I find inspiration in the little things – from the way sunlight filters through leaves to the calming rhythm of the ocean waves.

Every painting I create is a piece of my soul and heart laid bare. I don’t plan too much; I just paint what moves me on that particular day. It’s a very personal process, and I paint primarily for myself, but knowing that my work has found homes around the world is a feeling like no other.

I love that my pieces resonate with others and bring a touch of the Gold Coast’s beauty and my own perspective into their lives. So, welcome to my world – I hope you find a bit of your own story in my art.
